Navigating the New Ethical Rules: Traps for the Unwary
This program will look back at the last two years of bar court proceedings as well as common issues arising in current investigations to examine how the Rules of Professional Conduct are being applied by the State Bar. Participants will receive practical guidance on how to avoid missteps that could lead to ethical violations related to:
Conflicts of interest;
Fee splits with other lawyers;
Trust account violations;
Duties to the client and the court;
Duties of diligence;
Issues of confidentiality and privilege; and
Unauthorized practice of law
