Health Privacy: Pixels, Apps and Emerging Issues; Inaugural Annual Privacy Summit
Issues surrounding health privacy exploded in 2022, both at the federal and state levels. The Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization spurred a flurry of advisories and policy statements from the federal government; the FTC and HHS focused on privacy issues associated with health apps not covered by HIPAA; lawsuits focused on the use of advertising pixels on hospital websites proliferated; and California amended its health privacy law. Our panel of health and privacy experts makes sense of these recent development and opine on the broader landscape of medical privacy.
