California is still under the 1990 draft regulations for transfers and spousal protections. This presentation will go over the eligibility basics and then treat strategies for eligibility for single and married applicants, using our existing transfer rules and keeping an eye on possible adoption of the Deficit Reduction Act rules. We’ll then look at recovery avoidance strategies, including steps to take when single applicants own a personal residence but have not sheltered it from recovery. We will then look at new Social Security rules as they affect us when we plan for disabled or other special needs persons on Medi Cal and other public benefits.
