One of the greatest gifts our loved ones can give to us is to carry out our medical wishes if we are unable to communicate them ourselves. Our time to provide clear guidance to them is now.

Contemplating incapacity and death is difficult. Yet, it helps puts us in touch with our most authentic selves. It encourages us to be clear about our priorities. This clarity is critical to creating an effective Advance Health Care Directive (AHCD), by which we receive the treatment we have requested.

In this webinar, estate planning attorney John O’Grady and hospice physician Dawn Gross will discuss the practical application of AHCDs, and how they are used (or not used) in various health care settings. We’ll review the essential elements of a solid AHCD; exploring how, when, and where to start the conversation; creating a practice of review to keep AHCDs current; and steps loved ones may take in the very likely event that an AHCD is not available at the time of a health care emergency.
