2022 Open Meetings and Open Records Conference: The State of Police Records & The PRA
In 2019, law enforcement agencies started to release police personnel records in response to PRA requests related to newly defined critical incidents. Now, in 2022, a new law has expanded access to police records and has redefined many rules related to the timing and treatment of those records. With a one-year delay on the enforcement of this new law, law enforcement agencies are rightfully confused about their obligations to release records under the PRA. Join these panelists for an indepth look at the state of police records, focusing on an overview of SB 16.
