Throughout the country, 2010-2020 served as a turbulent time of change for estate planning attorneys. Three tax acts, a fiscal cliff, and year-end unknowns encouraged planning designed to utilize a client’s full federal estate and transfer tax exemption amount. When the predicted decrease in the estate tax exemption failed to materialize, estate planning attorneys had to pivot and alter their planning and gifting advice and strategies moving forward to account for and address a client with gifter’s remorse.

This webinar will explore how the estate and transfer tax changes affected estate planning, and what strategies and techniques continue to serve as best practices beyond 2020. The presenters will also discuss the current landscape as the further changes to the federal estate tax and capital gain tax are considered.
