Trademark Registrations and the Alcoholic Beverage Industry
Intellectual Property Law Section, Trademark Interest Group
The webinar will focus on issues concerning the registration of trademarks associated with the sale of various alcoholic beverages, as well as service marks regarding services involving the sale of alcoholic beverages. The webinar will assess the potential for consumer confusion, as well as issues regarding descriptiveness, geographic descriptiveness, genericness, trade dress, and consent agreements when seeking to register a mark used in connection with alcoholic beverages. The “something more” requirement in determining whether alcoholic beverages, on the one hand, and services that include the sale of alcoholic beverages, i.e., restaurant services, on the other, are related goods and services will also be addressed.
