Cross-Over Risks for Real Estate Lawyers Who Also Act as Real Estate Brokers
Even though an attorney may no longer be practicing law, they still get into trouble either simply by virtue of the fact that they are licensed, or possibly because they do cross a line and start offering legal advice in the context of a real estate transaction. Respective duties and responsibilities of the broker and real estate transactional attorney, where the line is between acting as a broker versus a real estate attorney, the standard of care imposed on both, and instances where brokers have gotten into trouble by virtue of also being real estate attorneys.
