Beyond Zealous Advocacy: Maintaining Civility in the Practice of Law in California. In a profession where the line between zealous advocacy and uncivil conduct is increasingly tested, this CLE presentation delivers a timely and practical examination of California’s civility standards, ABA Model Rules, and federal court guidelines. Through real-world case studies — including court decisions on sanctions, fee reductions, and deposition misconduct — attendees will learn the professional and financial consequences of uncivil conduct in litigation. Participants will leave with actionable strategies for maintaining professionalism in daily practice, from managing difficult opposing counsel to advising clients, while satisfying California's new mandatory one-hour civility MCLE requirement.
