This webinar will explore the antitrust implications and the economic analysis of health care provider consolidation in California.  Panelists will use the Sutter case as a centerpiece to discuss antitrust issues and risk in horizontal consolidation of health care providers.  They also will discuss the antitrust issues that arise with vertical integration of health care providers, such as when large hospital systems purchase physician practice groups and ambulatory surgery centers. Finally, the Panel will discuss how the recent COVID-19 pandemic should factor into antitrust and economic analysis in this area, as smaller and financially affected public hospitals and practice groups look to consolidate with larger and better-funded health systems.
