Wanted Dead or Alive: Taxes and the Importance of Estate Planning; 9th Annual Young Tax Lawyers Conference
Taxation Law Section
Credit(s):
1 Participatory MCLE Credits
1 Legal Specialization in Estate Planning; Trust & Probate Law
After a brief introduction about estate planning including the most common documents drafted and the importance of an estate plan, take a deeper dive into federal estate tax, gift tax, and generation skipping transfer taxes. Thereafter, combine the two topics of estate planning and tax to learn common trust structures for typical family estate planning and how to best analyze the client situation to determine the best structure. With several possibilities for customization of trust terms for a client, never-ending unique client situations, and the expected forthcoming drop in unified exemption against transfer taxes, these fundamental concepts are central to effectively advising a client on their estate plan and trust structure.
