CTAPP: What If The Answer Is “No”? Strategies For Addressing Client Trust Accounting Issues In The New Age of CTAPP; 2023 Solo & Small Firm Summit
The State Bar’s recently adopted Client Trust Account Protection Program (“CTAPP”) requires lawyers to annually certify compliance with the rules governing client trust accounts and to answer a dozen questions verifying compliance with those rules. But what if the certification can’t be truthfully made or the answer to any of the self-assessment questions is “no”? How do attorneys responsible for client trust accounts – and those advising them – navigate CTAPP when one or more of the many rule requirements governing client trust accounts have not been followed? What if the State Bar contacts you about your trust account? This panel of experts will address these questions, common client trust accounting mis-steps and strategies for getting to “yes” for CTAPP compliance.
