The wide-spread prevalence of trauma underlines the importance of adopting trauma-informed practices. Domestic violence and sexual assault programs across the country have increasingly adopted a trauma-informed approach within their organizations to support these victims. Supporting victims/survivors in areas of lawyers has created barriers and specific challenges that make it harder to maintain a trauma-informed approach to our work.
This workshop will provide a framework as well as concrete tips for applying a trauma-informed approach to supporting survivors in the context of legal proceedings for more competent representations, improved legal outcomes, and increased client engagement.
