2020 Environmental Law Conference at Yosemite: Keeping the Lights On
To adapt to climate change and slow emissions, Californians must rely more on electric power to heat and cool their homes and fuel their vehicles. Recent wildfires and preventative power safety shutoffs, however, highlight the risks of greater reliance on electric power and underscore the need for a more resilient electricity grid. This panel will cover barriers and solutions to deploying more distributed clean technologies, such as microgrids, community solar and energy storage. The panel will also focus on the challenges and benefits of making these solutions available to all Californians including vulnerable communities.
