Not In My House: Identifying and Challenging Implicit Bias
Implicit bias is a universal phenomenon but its ill effects are not inevitable. Recognizing our own biases and learning to mitigate them in ourselves, our organizations, and our industry is critical to challenging the systemic biases embedded in our society. The presentation will discuss the current understanding of implicit bias and identify specific decision-making procedures that can help us each live more in alignment with our conscious values and beliefs. These decision-making procedures can also be incorporated into policies and practices in our law firms, legal organizations, and judiciary to create more equitable spaces.
