2022 Public Sector Conference: How the PEDD Changed California Labor Law and Communications With Employees
California’s newest labor relations law—the Prohibition on Public Employers Deterring or Discouraging Union Membership (PEDD, Gov. Code §§ 3550-3553)—is different from anything that came before it. PERB has issued several decisions detailing what standards apply in PEDD cases, and the courts have begun to have their say on the new law. This panel explains precedent you need to understand and explores how these holdings could apply in common circumstances. You will learn how the PEDD may change what you think you know about public sector labor law. This panel will include some interactive hypotheticals for you to ponder and discuss with your fellow practitioners.
