2019 Annual Meeting: They Posted What? Where Social Media, Employer Interests and the First Amendment Intersect
This program will analyze legal issues connected to "Social Media” in the public sector workplace, including how social media can be a tool in the litigation arsenal of public employers and employees alike. Learn about the constitutional boundaries at play, and where the government’s interest as the employer intersects with a public employee’s 1st Amendment rights. Speakers will address issues surrounding social media in the investigatory and litigation context, and how such policies can be permissibly enforced within the bounds of 1st Amendment jurisprudence, as well as how to avoid running afoul of related state and federal statutes.
