Ransomware continues to be one of the fastest growing cyber-attacks, with an almost 13% rise this year according to the 2022 “Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report” – an increase as big as the last five years combined. Meanwhile, cybersecurity is also a key area of regulatory focus, with the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) seeking public comments in August 2022 on its proposed rulemaking on data security and the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reopening the public comments period on its proposed security incident disclosure requirements for public companies in October 2022. This session focuses on on how businesses can maintain reasonable security and prepare for the worst.
