New Developments in California Privacy Law – Practical Implications of a Shifting Legal Landscape
California’s privacy landscape changed dramatically in 2020. CCPA went into effect, final CCPA regulations were issued after several rounds of changes, voters approved Proposition 24 (the California Privacy Rights Act) which overhauled the CCPA, and the Legislature passed meaningful amendments to the CCPA particularly in the area of health law. More changes are likely to come in 2021 and they will be coupled with technological advancements that provide increased transparency and consumer control. Join us as we unpack and discuss what happened in 2020, what is likely to come in 2021, and how the development of new technologies in the private sector will impact businesses and consumers and the lawyers who are advising them.
