The Legal Landscape of Police Officer Discipline in 2020
Labor and Employment Law Section; California Lawyers Association Racial Justice Committee
Recent high-profile incidents involving police use of force and alleged misconduct have led to a national discussion about administrative discipline of officers. This discussion, led by an attorney who defends officers in IA investigations and discipline appeals and another who prosecutes disciplinary cases, will inform about the legal landscape of police discipline in California, from placement on administrative leave to dismissal.
