2019 Annual Meeting: Operating Your Practice Under the New Rules of Professional Conduct
The California Supreme Court issued orders approving the new Rules of Professional Conduct effective November 1, 2018. The new Rules represent a wholesale revision of the prior Rules of Professional Conduct to bring them more in line with the ABA Model Rules. While medium and large firms have staff and in-house training equipped to implement the changes wrought by these new Rules, solo and small firm practitioners are not so fortunate, and have to fend for themselves. This program summarizes the view from the small firm trenches and identifies the salient changes and how best to adapt to these new ethical guidelines. As a bonus, there will be a discussion of SB945, the Legislature’s revisions to the mediation confidentiality statutes, with proposed forms for use to ensure compliance.
